Epistolary Novels Continued…

August 15, 1955

Dear Daddy,

Sorry, I couldn’t get to write to you sooner, but I have been in such a whirlpool that I didn’t know if I was coming or going.

Well things are the same, perhaps a bit worse. I can’t feel nothing anymore. I entered a place where they keep unwed mothers. It was so difficult for me to get in being I’m married. Then after a long period of time, they told me I would be accepted.  The fee was $24.50 a week, plus medical expenses. So with all that I thought it must be a pretty nice place. Not only do you have to pay almost $25 a week, you have to do heavy work for the nuns and you have to sleep in a room with 6 other girls.
